EDICIONES MUSICALES Y REPRESENTACIONES INTERNACIONALES

AT THE SERVICE OF MUSIC AND ITS CREATORS SINCE 1962

Our Mission

What does a music publisher do?

A music publisher manages, protects, and promotes compositions created by songwriters and authors. Its role is to ensure that musical works are properly registered, licensed, and remunerated each time they are performed, recorded, broadcast, or used in different media.

What is the difference between a music publisher and a record company (or label)?

A music publisher is responsible for the musical work or composition itself. Its function is to administer song rights, manage licenses, and collect and distribute the corresponding royalties.

A record company or label is dedicated to producing, financing, and distributing musical recordings across different media.

In simple terms, the publisher represents the musical composition, while the record label represents the recording of that composition.

Why is a music publisher important for authors and composers?

Through proper registration and administration of works, authors’ rights are protected and they are guaranteed the recognition and remuneration corresponding to the use of their music.

Additionally, publishers help broaden the reach of the works.

In this way, not only are composers’ rights protected, but the work is also supported so it can be performed and reach new audiences.

Mexican folklore in motion

Mexican folk music was born from the encounter between Indigenous, Spanish, and African traditions. Today it continues evolving through stages, digital archives, and new creative communities.
